The CFD Laboratory is headed by Dr. Hermann F. Fasel. Our main areas of research are:
 
 • Investigation of instability mechanisms and transition to turbulence of wall–bounded and free shear flows using temporal and spatial Direct Numerical Simulations (DNS)
 
 • Development and testing of turbulence models
 
 • Investigation of active flow control mechanisms for turbulent flows using DNS, LES and RANS modeling
